Finding What We Seek – The Joy of Seeking

Share this:

Seek and you shall find.

We’ve all heard it right?

What you are looking for, is searching for you.

What you seek, is seeking you.

I’m sure that if we look deep enough into our own experiences we will be able to see that we’ve always found the inner most things that we seek, whether we know we are seeking them or not.

A great story I heard that sums this up goes like this,

“There was a young man who was seeking to find truth amongst his chaotic environment filled with entertainment, fashion, drugs, sex, and money.

He heard rumors of those who attained enlightenment and were free of fear, worry, and stress. Hearing this, the young man began to prepare himself to venture away from his home, in hopes of finding the truth that was missing in his life.

The time came for the young man to leave.

He flew across the world in search of this missing truth, arriving with less than $100 in his pocket.

Unaware of his direction, the young man began walking.
He walked for days, sleeping at the cheapest places possible.

After 8 straight days of walking the young man ran out of money in a small mountain village.

The voyage took a toll on his body, he was losing weight, hungry, and thirsty.

Unable to find a comfortable place to rest in the village, the young man took his last bottle of water and followed a small trail that led further into the mountains.
The trail continued upwards, the terrain difficult, the air cold.
The young man conserved each drop of water as he pushed forward.

Two days passed, the young man ate nothing but a few dried berries with a small amount of water.
Thirst and hunger made him move slower, it made him focus harder to keep his footing as
his body continued getting weaker and weaker.

He reached the top of a small peak, hungry, tired, and dehydrated.
As he stood on top of the peak, he spotted smoke in the short distance and
faintly heard the beat of drums as it echoed through the canyon.

New energy filled his body as he forced himself to move towards the smoke.

As he got closer, the noise became louder.

Entering the forested area where the young man spotted the smoke,
he saw an entire village dancing and celebrating.
He noticed drinks, food, laughter, and the excitement that filled the air.

Ready to collapse, the young man leaned against a tree watching the people
enjoy the festivities of the cool evening.

An elderly man, dressed in a white robe, accompanied by monks, and other
finely dressed people walked up to the young man who was clinging to the tree.

“What is this?” The young man asked, hungry and out of breath.

“This is the celebration of your arrival my friend,” the elderly man said, smiling peacefully, “We’ve been expecting you.”

I feel that this story is perfect for the first post on Three Key Life.

We are all seeking something; and that which we seek, is awaiting our arrival with open arms.

Three Key Life has been something I have been seeking for quite sometime, and it’s finally arrived. First and foremost, the launch of this site is a celebration for my Grandmother, Verna Beth Seely, who would have turned 86 today. Though she is no longer with us, her strength, guidance, and wisdom lives with me each day.

Thank you Grandma.

This day is also a celebration, because I am able to introduce myself, Jeffon Seely, to you.

Welcome to the Three Key Life.
