Maximizing Your Time and Effectiveness in Life

In our life, there is one resource more precious than any other. Some may highlight the importance of health, others express the value of relationships, finances, and their spiritual path.

While all of these have value, the aspect I am referring to is TIME. With it we live, move and create our lives. Without time, health, relationships, finances and our earthly spiritual path matter little.

How are you using your time?

Reflecting over the past few months, I’ve noticed moments where I was fully conscious and aware of the ways I was spending my time. This included meeting with people who fuel my mission, speaking at organizations across the country, conducting workshops, writing a new book and being around people I value and appreciate.

There are other times where I look back at the day and realize time slipped away. Another day passed by that will not come this way for the rest of my existence. It is during times like this that I remind myself that time is a gift and I can spend it any way I choose. Too often, we don’t value our time, instead we procrastinate, focus on our fears or simply waste it.

The other day I stumbled across an image on social media that had an 8x8x8 formula.

8 hours for sleep. 8 hours for work. 8 hours to do what you wish.

When you look at the way you use time, are you happy with the way you trade in your powerful hours?

Are you putting time and your energy into work that supports your highest vision?

Are you using your time to follow your heart and maximize your impact?

Learning how to maximize our time and aligning with our best helps us create a life worthy of the Essence that awakens us.

Tracking Time

With time and energy, nearly anything we envision can be accomplished. It may not be easy, but with persistence, discipline, and commitment to becoming our best, there is nothing that can keep us from the attainment of our dreams.

Over the course of the last year and a half, I have been using my time to help create my speaking business. I’ve dedicated time each day to make contacts for speaking engagements, followed up consistently, created new speeches, wrote books, and conducted workshops.

There is no better feeling than using your time in an effective and productive way.

If you use your time in this manner, you can create wonders in your life. You can build things that may have once frightened you and live in a way that aligns with the greatness dwelling within you.

One activity I’ve been doing more of is tracking my time. Keeping a little notebook with me and marking how I use each hour. This allows me to reflect upon my day and ask myself if I lived up to my best.

Doing this can be empowering or depressing. Television can take up the time required to build your dreams. Social media can leach away sacred minutes from your life. Toxic thoughts can fast forward you weeks at a time and nothing is accomplished.

If you track your days, what are the things you spend the majority of your time on?

3 Keys To Maximizing Your Time and Effectiveness in Life

#1 – Work With Your Heart – When you do something, ensure it brings joy to your heart and your life. Use your time to bring peace to your being. If you are consistently using your time to fuel the pain inflicting your inner world, you should cease to do that. Use each moment of your day like kindling that illuminates your passions and brings happiness to your soul.

#2 – Take Time To Learn – When you are not working or sleeping, ensure you take time to fill your mind with knowledge and wisdom. While you don’t need to always be learning something, you can have a book handy, watch an inspiring documentary or learn something new. Here is a list of books I recommend. How do you spend your free time?

#3 – Proper Rest – Proper rest breeds success. As Benjamin Franklin said, “Early to rest and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise.” Rest is imperative for health, ensure you make time to rejuvenate your body, mind, and spirit.

Work On Your Greatness

This week, use your time wisely. Work on being the best you. The world needs you and could use your light.
