3 Keys to Unlock Conscious Productivity

Conscious Productivity

Have you ever stopped for a minute and thought about all the things in our lives that pulls our attention away from being here, now?

Cell phones, thoughts of yesterday, thoughts of tomorrow, social media, jobs, internet, people around us, environments and all the other demands we experience each and every day.

With all these areas pulling our attention and focus away from this moment, how do we become more productive, accomplish more and reach our goals?

I’ve been pondering this for a while now.

I’ve been seeking to find ways that I can do more, achieve greater results, add more margin to my life, being more productive here and now.

Unfortunately, I find myself in a state of unproductivity too often.

I thought about all the things I’ve heard in the past regarding productivity and think I may have cracked the code for maximum productivity.

Join me on this path as I continue walking down this road to true productivity.

Goodbye Procrastination Hello Purpose

I was scanning back through the recent months and years of my life and I asked myself this question:

“Why do I procrastinate?”

Before I jump into my answer to this question, I’d like to invite you to ask yourself the same thing.

Real quick ask yourself.

Through this inner reflection, I found one primary reason why I procrastinate the way I do.

I don’t like what I am doing.

Think about it for a minute. Most of us, including myself, procrastinate most when we are forced to deal with something we really don’t want to do.

Things like work deadlines that bring 0% of satisfaction to our inner selves. Avoiding those meetings with that one person you really don’t want to see or talk to. Or putting off that assignment, that paper, that book idea, that business idea because you can’t find the inner motivation needed to move you into action.

Looking at the opposite end of the spectrum, I asked myself:

“Why don’t people procrastinate?”

I invite you to ask yourself this question as well.

When I asked myself this question, it was fairly obvious that the people who don’t procrastinate have a few things in common.

Things like:

  • They know what direction they would like to take their life. Knowing this, they can see how today is essential in the creation of the life they want to live tomorrow.
  • They spend their time doing things that brings joy to their being.

Now, we can find extremes in both cases, where one person is highly productive doing things they don’t enjoy and people who procrastinate on the things they love doing.

But as common sense will tell you, it is hard to procrastinate on the things that bring joy to life.

Especially if we are talking about our gifts, talents and unique abilities.

Ability to Create

So how do we invite in greater productivity into our lives?

And if you’re like I was in the past then you may be asking,

“How do I get more productivity in my life when I am stuck in a job, career or program that I truly dislike?”

The answer to this question can be expressed very simply.

We, you and I, must consciously embrace our ability to direct our experience of life. What I mean by this is that we have to intentionally create the life that we’d like to live. This is done day by day thought by thought, choice by choice, action by action.

If we inwardly know the direction we would like to take our lives, uncovering the person that we’d like to become (or know we are), then we can consciously start assembling our days in such a way that we’re directed to that destination.

Though we may not land in the exact place we envision with our lives, we can embrace our ability to be the captain of our experience; ensuring we use each moment of each day to honor the life within us.

3 Keys To Conscious Productivity

#1 – What Brings You To Life – Identify all the things that bring you to life. What activities, events, businesses, thoughts and ideas inspire you to live bigger? After finding what brings you to life, find all those things that drain the life out from within you. From here you can consciously begin spending your precious time and energy on those things which bring your true purpose and highest life out from within yourself.

#2 – Willingness to Accomplish More – Once you’ve identified the areas that inspire you to live bigger you can start to intentionally create your days. As we begin to intentionally create our days we can see that by knowing the direction we’d like to take our lives, we can fill our life with activities which bring us closer to the destination envisioned. In this way, each day is a gift for us to recognize more of our true selves.  You accomplish more by doing more of those things that you love. Finding a deeper meaning in the meaningless events that fill many of our lives.

#3 – Greater Results, Greater Margins – The key to achieving greater results and bigger margins in our lives comes down to something we all have within our grasps, habits. It’s our daily habits which create the results and experiences we seek. It is us, you and I, who creates greater results and margins by aligning ourselves, our minds and energies with those things that fully support the life within. From this point of awareness we can see that we are the source of our greatest success and greatest failure.

Gratitude

What a great opportunity we have to first dive within ourselves and ask, who are we and who would we like to become?

What a great privilege it is to be able to honor that inner vision and commit ourselves to the fulfillment of that vision. Regardless of how big or small.

Find gratitude within your own being. Be grateful for the use of free will and our ability to consciously build our life day in and day out by embracing the building blocks of experience, habits.

Be grateful you have an opportunity to be the true you.
